Tour Summary
Day 1 Depart from our Camp in Lilongwe and head to Blantyre, the commercial and industrial capital of Malawi. Lunch on route. Spend the afternoon exploring the cities vibrant streets. Set up camp in the green gardens of Doogles Lodge. Dinner will be served at our camp.
Day 2 After breakfast departure to Zomba plateau. Stop at the interesting colonial town of Zomba, the former capital of Malawi. Visit the colorful and busy markets to buy our fresh supplies for the next few days. We then head onto the Plateau where we set up camp amongst the tall Pine trees. Relax for the evening at camp or have a sundowner at the nearby beautiful Kuchawe Inn. Dinner is served around the campfire.
Day 3 Spend the day on the Zomba plateau hiking up to the many waterfalls and stunning viewpoints. An excursion in the safari vehicle is available for those who wish to explore the plateau in a less active way.
Day 4 After an early breakfast depart to Liwonde the best game park in Malawi, stopping on the way at some superb local craft stables. After setting up camp we enjoy our lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Mvuu Campsite. Spend the rest of the day in camp or take an optional game drive and/or night drive. Enjoy dinner accompanied by the mysterious wildlife sounds of the National Park.
Day 5 In the morning there is the option to join a boat safari on the hippo infested waters of the Shire River. Or for the more adventurous join an early morning walking safari before departing to Cape Maclear. On arrival we set up our camp on the tropical white beaches of Lake Malawi and prepare lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing, swimming or snorkeling in the lake or visit the nearby Islands in a local dugout canoe. Options also include joining an expedition to the exclusive treasure island of Mumba where you will spend the evening before returning to camp the following day. For those remaining dinner will be served on the beach.
Day 6 Spend the morning relaxing on the beach, and taking in the sights and sounds of the village. Breakfast and lunch will be served from the camp allowing you to make the most of your free day. That evening we will dine in a restaurant in the fishing village and spend the night under the beautiful stars on the beach.
Day 7 Return back to Lilongwe, stopping to barter for goods at a local craft market along the way.
